Judging by AV-Comparatives test results, Avast isn’t quite as secure as some others, but it’s definitely up there among the best. It also yielded 10 false alarms which isn’t fantastic, but a lot better than the staggering 114 flagged by Panda. Offline, it managed to detect 92% of threats.

And although this sounds pretty near perfect, there were several antivirus providers that did better.
